Enjoying a Night Away

For Father’s Day, I gave Jason tickets to see one of his favorite comedians, Jeff Dunham, down at Mystic Lake Casino. Originally, I planned on making a night of the whole thing, but with Jason not really caring for gambling, I wasn’t sure if it’d be worth it. It would also be our first time away from Levi overnight (together), so we would both need to truly enjoy the evening to make it worth it.

I know that it’s important for couples to get “alone” time but when you have kids it makes it a little more difficult. Plus, your priorities are rearranged so that night out doesn’t always sound so enticing when you’re covered in drool, or puke, and are exhausted. Or maybe that’s all the more reason to have a little getaway, lol.

After checking out the ecasino guide online, I started thinking about how many other things casinos have nowadays besides gambling. They have entertainment (like the Jeff Dunham show!), cheap hotel rates, and Mystic Lake even has bowling, a fitness center, a pool, and child care!

The show is in August, so I’m hoping by then I can convince Jason that it’s ok to leave Levi with a babysitter (like my dad or his mom) overnight. We’ve only had two people other than family babysit for us, and that was when it was absolutely necessary and people we REALLY trust. But Levi’s almost 2. I think it’s ok to branch out a little bit with caregivers, as long as it’s still someone we trust.

So while it started out as a simple trip to see one of Jason’s favorite comedians, it’s turned into so much more. I love that even though we don’t gamble, we can still enjoy ourselves and have a romantic night out.
